Community involvement

Vision Transportation and our employees have deep roots within our community. We live where we work, and work where we live. We all try to give back when we can. Our collective efforts include providing support to local sports teams, community events and charities – too many to mention each one by name. This has been going on for 19 years and continues to grow each year.

In addition, each of the past five years, Vision employees have partnered with Eden Community Food Bank. Each year, leading up to Christmas, Vision employees collect and donate food, toys and money to support this very worthwhile charity. This has resulted in many families in our community getting much needed support at what can be a very difficult time of the year.

Annual Peter D’Attoma Memorial Golf Tournament and dinner

Tony D’Attoma (President and C0-Founder of Vision Transportation) started this event in 1996 in memory of his late father Peter D’Attoma who lost a courageous battle with cancer in 1995. Since then Tony, along with a committee of incredibly dedicated and focused family and friends have seen this event grow every year.

For the first 15 years of the event all proceeds were donated to the Oakville Chapter of the Canadian Cancer Society and raised over One Million dollars for the cause.

Direction changed in 2011 when it was announced that a new hospital was to be built at Third Line and Dundas in Oakville where they would create a centre to treat cancer patients in the hospital. The committee decided to pledge $500,000 over five years towards the new hospital and is donating funds on-going from the event. As a result of this achievement, the Chemotherapy wing of the hospital was named after Tony’s father Peter D’Attoma.

Vision Transportation has contributed greatly in this endeavor and is proud to be a major sponsor of the event along with many other sponsors and donators to numerous to name.

The committee would like to sincerely thank everyone who has attended and contributed to this great cause, without their commitment and generosity this even could not have become the success it has been.

To quote Tony D’Attoma…

“You receive a lot more than you give in life.
and it is important to give something back,
giving becomes contagious. It just takes one person to start”.
